XP Deus - I Unearthed Some Nice Squeakers Today
( Here are the settings that I used: Discrimination -6.4, Full Tones, Sens 95, TX Power 2, Frequency 11.7, Reactivity 2.5, Silencer -1, Audio Response 4, GB - Tracking, Notch 0, Graphic XY and Norm OFF. )
I didn't feel much like going detecting today because I did so much digging yesterday, but I saw a bunch of rain headed my way and wanted to make hay while the Sun is still shining. I can always catch up on my rest when it's raining.
I headed back to one of the permissions that I got yesterday to see if could find some more silver coins. I pulled out my Deus and used the settings that used on the last hunt except that I lowered the sensitivity from 95 to 90.
The front yard wasn't all that big and a huge oak tree took up much of it. My second dig turned out to be a 1944 Mercury dime. That made me happy because I knew that I wasn't going to get skunked. That has actually happened to me before.
The next silver coin I found was a 1944 Washington quarter. It was close to the shrub bed and gave a sweet squeaky high pitched audio response and a ID number of 93. It was no doubt in my mind that I had a silver quarter under the search coil, so I cut the plug a little larger so not to hit it with my digger.
I almost didn't finishing digging the 3rd silver coin, because it was dead center under a huge tree root. From the audio tone and number ID I was pretty certain that is a silver dime, so I decided to dig down one side of the root and see if I could get to it that way. Finally, after a lot of hard work, I recovered a 1937 Mercury dime.
The 4th silver coin, a 1945 Mercury dime, I missed when I went over that area the first time, but hit it the second time when I swung at it at a different angle. It turns out that iron was masking it from one side. That got me to thinking that I might want to give the factory 'fast' setting a try.
The fast setting did its trick and found me a 1957 Rosie dime right next to some iron. I like its performance, but I don't care much for the audio. I'm going to have to come up with a custom fast program that I like. It will have to be one with full tones, because full tones is the only way to go.
